Let's Get started

Individual Therapy

Working together, we'll create a nurturing space where you can freely explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges without fear of judgment—where you are welcome to show up as your authentic self.

My practice is rooted in cultural humility, emphasizing respect and understanding for all individuals, especially those who identify as LGBTQIA+.

Whether you're seeking support for burnout recovery, adulting with ADHD, or navigating the complexities of parenthood, let's walk this path together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out if you cannot find an answer to your question.   marlowe@marlowekovach.com

Starting therapy can feel like a blind date—a mix of excitement and uncertainty. Here's what you can expect from our initial sessions:

We'll begin with a conversation. Together, we'll explore your current stressors and concerns within the context of your life history, as well as your hopes and aspirations for the future.

Next, we'll map out our approach to therapy, choosing methods that best suit your needs and goals.

Then, we'll dive in and get started. Many clients benefit from a blend of skill-building and cultivating inner acceptance. Throughout the therapeutic process, we'll go at your pace, finding that sweet spot between feeling comfortable and making progress.

Your feedback is incredibly important to me—I want you to feel empowered to let me know if something doesn't quite feel right during our sessions. This way, we can ensure our work together is truly beneficial for you.

A list of therapy modalities can seem like alphabet soup with all the acronyms.

But don't worry if you're not familiar with therapist jargon—I'm here to explain everything in simple terms. Together, we'll discuss the methods I use and figure out which approaches resonate best with you.

The most crucial factor for successful therapy is our relationship.

Together, we'll build a space where you feel genuinely seen and heard— where all aspects of you are embraced without judgment.

Here are some tools I use to create that space:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is like learning a set of tools to navigate life's ups and downs with greater ease. It combines practical skills training—like mindfulness and emotion regulation—with compassionate support, helping you build resilience and create a more balanced, meaningful life.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is about embracing who you are while helping you move towards the life you want. Through mindfulness and acceptance of your thoughts and feelings, we'll work together to clarify your values and take committed actions that align with them, fostering a deeper sense of fulfillment and resilience.

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is like having a trusted guide helping you identify patterns in your thoughts and behaviors that might be holding you back. Together, we work to develop practical strategies to change these patterns, empowering you to feel more in control and confident in managing life's challenges.

If you cancel your appointment within 24 hours of the scheduled time, there is a cancellation fee of $75, whether you're using insurance or paying privately. However, this fee may be waived if we're able to reschedule the appointment within the same Monday to Friday week. The rescheduled session can be either in person or virtual, depending on what works best for both of us.

If you miss your appointment without cancelling (no-show), or if you cancel within 30 minutes of the appointment time or after it has already started, you will be charged the full session rate, regardless of our ability to reschedule within the week.

To be fair, if I need to cancel our appointment within the 24-hour window and we cannot reschedule within the same week, I offer a no-charge late-cancel credit. Similarly, if I happen to miss our scheduled appointment (no-show), I will provide you with a full session rate credit.

I believe in transparency and fairness with these policies, and I'm happy to discuss them further if you have any questions or concerns.

Starting in 2021, new legislation requires that all uninsured or private-pay clients receive a “Good Faith Estimate” before starting therapy. This estimate gives you a rough idea of the costs, considering the expected duration of services. If this applies to you, I'll make sure you receive a “Good Faith Estimate” before our first session.

For more details, you can visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or give them a call at 1-800-985-3059. It's important to have clear information upfront, and I'm here to help guide you through the process.
